About Steven D. Kim

Attorney/ Industrial Designer/ Entrepreneur

Mr. Kim is an entertainment and intellectual property law attorney specializing in the areas of contracts, licensing, trademark and copyright laws. He has over10 years of experience as an attorney and has worked in the United States Trademark Office. He was a member of the winning trademark litigation team for two years representing Syracuse University College of Law, and was one of sixteen appointed Teaching Assistants at the law school. He has also authored a scholarly paper titled Industrial Design and the Copyright Act (1995) sponsored by the Brand Name Foundation that won First Place Prize. The paper was recognized by the New York State Governor, George Pataki, and The Amercian Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Mr. Kim is currently an active member of the entertainment and intellectual property law sections of the New Jersey State Bar and is admitted into United States District Court (3rd Cir.).

Mr. Kim graduated with a bachelors of industrial design degree (1988) from Syracuse University. He worked as an industrial designer for world-renowned design firms such as Henry Dreyfuss Associates, Deskey Associates and Digital Equipment Corporation. His product and packaging designs include AT&T video telephone, Procter & Gamble consumer products, Timex watches, McNeil Dickinson packaging designs, Gatorade packaging designs, and computer products for Digital Equipment Corporation.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. Kim successfully launched his own line of prestige fragrance under the brand name, Merge, in the United States. Merge fragrance was successfully launched nationwide through Sephora and Henri Bendel in New York City. Merge fragrance with its unique design was featured on Ally McBeal, a popular television sit-com and numerous fashion magazines including Marie Claire. Mr. Kim was invited as a speaker by the fragrance foundation as a panel member for a forum titled, “Entrepreneurs in the fragrance industry.” He has also appeared on QVC home shopping network. His comprehensive, real-life experience with product design and development, retail distribution, manufacturing and marketing has become invaluable to his clients who seek to develop, market and protect their products and brands.
